About Dr. Danielle

Hi, I’m Dr. Danielle Gill (formerly Willis)! I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in Maryland and I work with youth, families, and caregivers to treat behavioral, developmental, anxiety, mood, and adjustment concerns. I have expertise in working with children and adolescents who experience a variety of behavioral concerns, including those related to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), tantrums, not listening, physical aggression, elopement, anxiety, depression, adjustment to life stressors/changes, toilet training difficulty, sleep concerns, and other behaviors that may get in the way of healthy functioning. I often consult with schools and medical providers to coordinate care so that functioning is improved across all settings to optimize behavioral, physical, emotional, and social well-being of youths and their families. I have experience with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, and have additional specialty training in children ages 2 to 12 years. I also have a special interest in helping youth adjust to or manage their medical conditions or health-related concerns.

I’m passionate about using treatments based in empirical evidence and often use behavioral and cognitive-behavioral strategies to promote healthy functioning. I focus on personalizing treatment plans and treatment goals to the unique needs of each individual and family. We will work together to ensure our treatment goals are met using the evidence-based strategies that are most helpful to you.

I’m certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a well-researched treatment providing “bug-in-ear” coaching of therapeutic play strategies and discipline strategies to caregivers and their children ages 2 to 7 years. I have also received training in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), a parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and related problems. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, parent behavior management training, family therapy, exposure therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), needle desensitization, pill swallowing, Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and habit reversal therapy.

I have the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and can practice telepsychology under the authority of PSYPACT in any PSYPACT participating states. For an updated list of current PSYPACT participating states (which are 33 states and counting), please visit the PSYPACT State Map.

Professional Experience

I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals, schools, and academic medical centers. I have specialized training experience from Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where I completed internship and postdoctoral fellowship. I hold a PhD in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina. I have been a project manager for a large research project on children with ADHD, presented at national and international conferences, and have co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles focusing on the research of ADHD. I’m a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and like to stay up to date on research.

Life Outside the Office

I was born and raised in Maryland, where I currently reside with my family. I strive to live a life that includes being passionate about my work while balancing self-care, which to me includes spending time with family and friends, relaxing near the water, taking my dog for long walks, reading good books, trying new food, and getting to the beach whenever I can.
